George was born in 1894, the son of Richard and Kate Auker of 53 Palace Gardens, Buckhurst hill. George's birth was registered in the district of West Ham, Essex
George Auker is also remembered on the Theipval Memorial, France.
The CWGC states that "On 1 July 1916, supported by a French attack to the south, thirteen divisions of Commonwealth forces launched an offensive on a line from north of Gommecourt to Maricourt. Despite a preliminary bombardment lasting seven days, the German defences were barely touched and the attack met unexpectedly fierce resistance. Losses were catastrophic and with only minimal advances on the southern flank, the initial attack was a failure."
Leonard Alfred Aylott was born 1908, his birth was registered in the district of West Ham in the county of Essex.
The 1911 census shows Len aged 2, born Leyton living 5 Aukland Road, Leyton with his parents Harry Herbert Aylott, a railway goods guard from Hillingdon and Ellen Aylott (nee Tarling) form Buckhurst Hill.
The census also shows a younger daughter Nellie Fanny Julia aged 3 months and says that they had had 3 children one of whom had died.
Harry and Ellen had 2 more daughters after 1911, Dorothy and Elsie.
Leonard was killed, along with his crewmen Douglas Green, Pilot, Fredrick Lown, Co-Pilot and Wilfred Rooks, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner, when their plane crashed on Ben Lui in Central Scotland during the evening of 15th April 1941 in poor weather conditions.

The census shows siblings Ellen 18, George 13, Charlotte H 8, Annie H 3 and Arthur G 4 months. Georges occupation is recorded as Clerk with ?Chemical Broker
By 1901 George has died and Charlotte is recorded as a widow living at 1 St Johns Terrace, Buckhurst Hill. George Airta 23, William Thomas 21, Charlotte Hurst 18, Annie Hurst 13 and Arthur Glover 10 are living there with her. Lesley is recored as Gordon Lesley Black aged 16, a pupil at Bancrofts School, Walthamstow.

The 1901 census finds Albert recorded as 'Infant not named' aged under 1 month living at 3 Iris Cottages, Allbert Road North, Buckhurst with his parents Albert 38 General Labourer and Elizabeth 37 (both born Wethersfield) along with siblings Violet (11), Dorothy Mabel (4) and Martha (2)
Scanning through the CWGC records there seem to be at least 10 other young men who died on HMS Powerful between September & December 1918. This possibly could have been as a result of the Influenza Pandemic of 1918-19

However, this information is contorary to various websites stating that Richard Howard Stafford Crossman was born 15th December 1907, Cropredy, Oxfordshire or London.

John Murice Legge, born 1889, Marple, Cheshire was the son of John R and Jessie A Legge, both from Scotland. John senior was a Congregational Minister and in 1891 lived at 2 St johns Terrace, High Road, Buckhurst Hill with his wife Jessie, son John aged 2 and daughter Ethel aged 3.
By 1901 the Legge family are living in Queens Road and have a thrid child, a daughter named Gwen. Birth records show that Gwen Aikenhead Legge was born in Buckhurst Hill in 1892.

By 1901 Henry, now 19 and a painters labourer is living as a lodger at 1 Chestnut Cottages Lower Queens Road. The head of the house is Daniel Grisenthwaite a house painter. Henry's elder brother Francis, a baker aged 29 is also lodging with the Grisenthwaite family.
The 1871 census shows that William and Frances had a child born before William C. A daughter Frances A aged 8.

The 1901 census shows one sibling, a six month old sister Rosaline. Cliffords father was an Auctioneer & Surveyor from London. His mother Rolinad was born in Clifton, Bristol Cliffords father Samuel Clifford Teeowned his own business and the 1901 census shows him as an employer. His company is still in existance and is now called Clifford Tee & Gale. Samuel Clifford Tee set up practice on "1 January 1895 in Moor-gate, City of London. I am researching the history of my Uncle, Flt Sgt Douglas Green. He was the pilot of a Lockheed Hudson T9432 which crashed on 15th Aapril 1941. One of his crew was Sgt Len Aylott. I would be very interested in hearing from any surviving relatives of Len, or anyone who knows anything about him
